Great Yorkshire Show Cheese Auction Reaches Fundraising Milestone
Caroline headed to the Great Yorkshire Showground earlier this month to officially hand over a cheque for the money raised at this year’s Cheese Auction.
Once judging has taken place in the Cheese and Dairy Section at the Great Yorkshire Show, visitors are given the chance to bid for a round of their favourite cheese created by producers from across the country. Proceeds from the auction are then donated to a nominated charity each year.
This year’s fantastic total also helped reach the incredible milestone of £50,000 raised through the auction over the last decade
This year’s auction in July raised a magnificent £8,530, with the proceeds donated to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), a charity which works tirelessly to support farming people through practical, financial and emotional assistance.
This year’s total also helped reach the incredible milestone of £50,000 raised through the auction over the last decade, which has benefitted a number of charities including; Herriot Hospice Homecare, The Samaritan’s Regional Rural Initiative, Addington Fund and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
“The cheese auction is always a highlight of the Great Yorkshire Show’s Cheese and Dairy Section"
Caroline, who has been the Chief Steward at the Great Yorkshire Show’s Cheese and Dairy Section for the last 4 years said: “The cheese auction is always a highlight of the Great Yorkshire Show’s Cheese and Dairy Section, and it really is our visitors who make it such a big success. The auctioneers do such a brilliant job and it’s amazing to have raised over £8,500 for RABI and their invaluable work.”
